Solar Prices Zimbabwe
A straight-talking guide to what solar costs in Zimbabwe in 2026, what drives the price, and how to get an exact quote for your property.
Get a Free QuoteWhat Does Solar Actually Cost?
It is the first question almost everyone asks, and the honest answer is that it depends. Solar is not a product with a single price tag. It is a system built around your home or business, and the cost moves with how much power you use, how long you need to run without the grid, and the quality of the components you choose.
That said, you deserve real numbers to budget with rather than a vague "it depends". Below are indicative price ranges for the three most common system sizes in Zimbabwe. Treat them as a starting point for planning, not a final quote. The only way to get an accurate figure is a free site assessment where we measure your actual needs.
Every range below is in US dollars, the currency solar equipment is priced in across Zimbabwe.
Indicative System Prices
Budgeting guidance for 2026. Your exact price depends on battery size, component quality and your site.
3kW Small Household
USD 1,150 to 3,400
Runs: Lights, TV, wifi, laptops and an efficient fridge.
3kVA inverter, around 5kWh battery, three to five 550W panels.
5kW Family Home
USD 2,000 to 6,200
Runs: A full family home through load shedding, with heavier appliances.
5kVA inverter, 5kWh to 10kWh battery, extended-backup versions reaching 6,000 plus.
10kW Large Home or Small Business
USD 4,500 to 13,500
Runs: Air conditioning, multiple fridges, a borehole and business loads.
10kVA inverter, 15kWh to 40kWh storage, twelve to twenty-two panels.
Commercial and industrial systems of 30kW and above are quoted individually, as loads, three-phase requirements and storage vary widely.
What Drives the Price
Understanding these factors helps you compare quotes properly and avoid false savings.
Battery Capacity
Usually the biggest single cost, often 40% to 50% of the total. More backup hours mean a bigger, more expensive battery bank.
Inverter Brand
Premium hybrid inverters such as Deye, Sunsynk and Victron cost more than budget units but last longer and perform better.
Your Actual Load
Air conditioners, geysers, borehole pumps and workshop tools all push system size, and therefore cost, upward.
Installation and Labour
Typically 10% to 15% of the quote. Proper mounting, wiring and protection equipment are not where to cut corners.
Panel Quality
Tier-one monocrystalline panels cost a little more per watt but hold their output and warranty over decades.
Site Conditions
Roof type, access, cable runs and whether a ground mount is needed all affect the final installed price.

Think in Payback, Not Just Price
The sticker price is only half the story. Every month on solar is a month you are not buying generator fuel or paying rising ZESA tariffs, and those savings add up quickly.
Most residential systems pay for themselves within three to five years. Commercial systems with heavy daytime use often get there in two to three. After that, your power is essentially free for the remaining life of the panels, which are warrantied for around 25 years.
Seen this way, a well-sized solar system is not a cost. It is a purchase that stops you spending and then keeps paying you back for decades.
